Spooky Jetsons Vision of the Future
Whilw watching Jetsons last night on Boomerang video on demand, I was astounded to hear Mr. Spacely invoke "Google finance" in his enticement to a group he was interested in doing an M&A with. This episode was from 1985, and Google was 11 years away. Syntactically, it's not like he was using the number, more like he was throwing around Wired-magazine-style business speak. Spooky! Be ready it happens quickly:

Later in that same episode. we saw this, which had (I hope you'll notice as you watch) that unmistakable Je ne sais quoi, or lagniappe or visual umami that only John K. can provide.
We were sure it was him, but it seemed too early ('85). See what you think:

Sure enough, he appears to have worked as a Layout Supervisor, but for all intents and purposes, it looks like he directed it. I'd love to know what he exactly did to influence this end product while Layout Supervisor (maybe they have that much influence, I don't know) so as to put his indelible mark on this work.

Working out how to best print these in preparation for sale....Backs will have a fave song lyric instead of stats. Teams and stuff like that is purely dictated by what I found searching vs. head size...
Also, there's a little "WTF?!?! moment at the bottom.
All cards link to the total collection page.

Enjoy!

and as so many bad interoffice joke emails say, "wait for it......"

Hey, that's not baseball !!

OOPS - Wrong Sticker
I was going to moblog this one, but I had to clean it up a little.
One gets a warm feeling knowing their EMS worker has an "Angel of DEATH" sticker in their car window.........

Little Town
These images come from a book with the same name as this post. I bought it at a flea market or some place and owing to my parental guilt for being on the road, went over it in great detail with my tiny son. We got to see the world that is gone, yet familiar. He understood, and all my children understand.

The book is by Berta and Elmer Hadler (who knew?- a Wikipedia link.) and published by MacMillan in 1941, dedicated to Gayle. This apparently was their schtick, being Caldecott winners.

The activities happening in a small town (not unlike mine) are described with illustrations containing a plethora of visual features as accompaniment.

It's another world.

Another World, I say.

Music for Blue Bloggers

For Goof, Lellebelle, Tom Sutpen, Sebastian and everybody who's been there & done that. Gavin Bryars did this 30 years ago and then about ~>decade or so ago again where he admittedly took advantage of the new CD format to allow him to make thet piece as long as possible. Plus his added cachet as a more prominent composer got him a great venue - a giant empty water tank, and it's commensurate sonic-sinking-ship ambience (in France) which, in fact, adds je ne sais quoi .

Frig- listen to it - it's heavenly - despite it's mournful subject matter.

Go buy it - own it - support the quintessential oddball artist.
