Oh, Someone's 'Avin a Larf, Ain't They?
I had a subscription to SEED the most unreadable science magazine in existence. It's as if the folks at Interview and Nylon said, "Hey! let's do a science magazine! We'll make it all edgy and stuff!"

It's ending. The insert obscuring the front cover had this:

More appropriate for Hustler, wouldn't ya think?

More Nancy in Sparkler 41 from 1945
1945....

Just one story this time. I was reminded by Frankenstein comics guy that Bushmiller used to draw Nancy with a toothpick. The Tootsie Roll ad in the back is fantastic.

Spark Man...WTF?

Raging now: How the HECK Do I like My Eggs !?!?!?!??!?!
That's right - if you're paying even ZERO attention...EGGS A LA MOE! Y'Know, where the eggs DON'T get flipped yet the chicken ass germs DON'T cause salmonella because they have SEALED OVER plus the yolks remain liquid due to heat application, owing to the fact that a lid has been applied to the pan to achieve this effect.

PEOPLE- get with the program fer chrissake!!!!

Note: eggs never actually act as glasses for the real Lex10 - I mean, what the hell do you think?!?!?!? They're Eggs! Ya can't see through them!!! Well, maybe the whites when they're raw, but - ew.....

NOW PAY THE *&%# ATTENTION......pretty please beloved visitors......

UPDATE: SINCE YOUTUBE HAS SEEN FIT TO MALFUNCTION (IT MAY YET FIX ITSELF)
USE THIS IMAGE BELOW AS REFERENCE FOR THE VIDEO ABOVE. (which plays just fine) BONUS: IT LINKS TO A WALLPAPER, KIDS- 'CAUSE I'M NOT REALLY RAGING ha-HA!

Poor Retarded Dog
...as my youngest daughter put it- watch as Terrytoons' Heckle and Jeckle psychologically torture the "stupid dog" from their oeuvre. It's exquisite, and that's why these magpies (apparently almost nonexistent in the USA!- USA!- USA!- yet copious in the UK) have the upper hand. Moral of the story: Don't be a stupid jerkoff.

Working out how to best print these in preparation for sale....Backs will have a fave song lyric instead of stats. Teams and stuff like that is purely dictated by what I found searching vs. head size...
Also, there's a little "WTF?!?! moment at the bottom.

Burritos for the Deaf
Mrs Lex10 was on the phone with me the other day and had the TV on mute. She stopped in mid conversation and rewound the DVR. That is when she was sure she discovered the secret ingredient to burritos.

Incidentally, they're off the menu henceforth.

I REPEAT: How Do I Like My Eggs!?!?!?!
How to describe Eggs a' la Moe? Perfection. Cooked only on one side, but covered for the second half of the cooking process, so that the yolk is still liquidy but all outer membranes and protein are fully cooked. Tenderly treated like a woman's love. Tenuously hanging onto that perfection, not telling the same joke over and over or attending the same activity too many times as to overcook the relationship....er, I mean eggs. Oh beautiful eggs, don't disappoint me. Then bitten into. (ho HO!!)

The idea behind it is their nearly symmetrical beauty, and untrammeled color (from not being flipped). However, if you are in the mood, you can "dirty 'em up" with red pepper flakes, cracked black pepper and dried herbs. Go ahead- you might find those eggs actually encourage you., quivering there, bulbous and glistening. Saying, "That's right! Yeah! Do it!" In fact egging YOU on.........

See my previous post on this boring friggin' subject.

The image below is, a wallpaper (with some ultra-artistic f-ing around- yeah, that's right, I could improve your personal-corporate-product image...... in fact you wish I would) as is the case so often here at the GlyphJockey blog.

More Robot Fun: What Does Robby Do When He's Alone?
This was on TV and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Thanks to DVR, I went back and shot it off the screen, there are subtitles, because I couldn't believe my ears. Very short so pay attention & most of all, enjoy this self-writing burlesque blackout-style gag.

A Response/Add On To "Poon is a Hug"
When I first saw this in the film "Don't Knock the Rock" my eyeballs almost fell outta my head.

Years later, I got to meet a couple of the remaining Treniers at Resorts International, in the hole known as A.C. Nice guys. seemed a little embarassed about this performance, though - perhaps it was because they had become so lounge and mature.

We did not poon upon departing, by the way........

Sequitur: a Flash Comic + Weirdness
I'm working on a concept piece using "Three Quarter Covers" comics (comics remaindered but given credit for by returning the title area or the top quarter of the cover to the distributor) called Sequitur, using largely non-verbal panels to form a concept stream.

Don't yew judge me! Don't judge me!

The picture immediately below is a link to SEQUITUR

BUT That's not all!!!

I found a couple of other oddities while collecting the images for Sequitur:

First, this pre-Bruno Magli OJ Simpson ad for Dingo boots!

(Link to bigger on click)

Next, this LOLmeme panel from 77 Sunset Strip Comics

Lastly, Barney Bear trying to get his chickens to explore alternative lifestyles....

Link to bigger above^^

The chickens looked shocked, I must admit.

Father's Day Reminiscences of Dear Old (Filthy) Dad

He made these recordings with a pal around 1947.

Seven years later and maybe fun was rapidly diminishing...

They've been banged around quite a bit, and the sound is atrocious, but listenable in an Edison wax cylinder kind of way.

I had them in a film can backfrom my college days- the school was so unsure about teaching film that we'd get castoff bargain basement stock.

I cleaned it them up real well, and here's the type of disc- Metal center, acetate(?) skin.

Here's the audio:

The first one "Recitations" is basically a string of misogynistic, race-based, if not actually racist, jokes. Being a son of an Eastern Eupropean coal miner made good as a shoe repairman, anybody was fair game, I guess. Either way it's gourmet old-timey filth.

The next one, "Piano Solo" is him pretending to play (he didn't) while saying things over the music.

The final two are ribald songs with live guitar.

First one

Second one

BONUS:
While going through these 78's I found a signed copy of Malaguena b/w Harmonica
Boogie by the Harmonicats

Here's "Harmonica Boogie", because Malaguena had a pretty good ding & I might want to use my phonograph again sometime.

On Behalf of my Daughter -The Birthday Girl
Happy Birthday, M.K. my M.B.
In your honor, here's a tribute to something you hipped me to:

The Life of Riley starring William Bendix:

You, falling asleep to it in your room night after night, me, wondering about its staying power. I was too young to grow up with radio, but it was easy to see this was expert writing suited to the medium. "What a revoltin' development!" became part of the phraseology around here, and Digger O'Dell one of the ghosts that haunted our senses of humor.

But William Bendix wasn't good as Riley because he got lucky. He had a prodigious career, and if you never experience him in anything else, see him in Lifeboat if you haven't yet. It was post-Riley that I reexperienced his performance for the brilliance that it was.

This picture links to archive.org's complete listing of episodes in .mp3 format

This picture below is a link to 174 streaming episodes of the Life of Riley. He's bound to do a couple of his meat commercials in there somewhere.

Here's his IMDb listing
Here's a (it's amazing!) tool that shows when he'll be on U.S. TV next
And here's his Wikipedia entry

Happy Birthday, and....................poopoopeepee!!!!!

Comedy's Bryan Ferry - Vic Reeves - Yo, Americans!
Vic Reeves' Big Night Out on BBC in the 90's was like the misbegotten spawn of The Tonight Show and Pee Wee's playhouse. Really funny - and it rocked. Just like this can't-get-it-in-USA disc.

There's too much to say here, but I think the jackhammer on "Oh, Mr. Songwriter" (Vic's theme) sums it up.

Buy it here at my Amazon store - or else!
