Let's All Dance To .......ROCK N' ROLL !!
A friend loaned this to me back in my filmmaking days, and I thought it could be used as background music. He never got it back. It still could be.

I haven't heard it yet so bear with me. From vinyl, so anything goes. I do recommend skipping the two "unnamed" tracks (despite the fact that they're at the top of the widget). Those particular tracks are swing-ish which leads me to wonder if this is the same Hen Gates that played with Dizzy Gillespie..

It rocks tho, saxophonishly, what I've heard...... in a just-shy-of-Las-Vegas-Grind sort of way.

Rock on rockers in your rock world, rock on.

Personally, I say skip the unnamed tracks......

Yeah! Poorly Done Grade B Heroes!
This is something I wanted to try - a new flash slideshow tool.
The story is from The Jaguar, September 1962 (Kennedy commits to moon, Beatles get a record contract) so, uh, smell that spoor, Jaguar! The whole single-panel-at-a-time works for me, I guess, and the tool's a no-brainer to use (link to it at the end of the show).

Picture contains a hyperlink to take you to the Jaguar in: the Jaguar's 6th Sense!!

Mashup Video: Flip the Frog in Killing Floor
Ub Iwerks' "Fiddlesticks" is in the public domain. I am reading Neal Gabler's Disney biography - and it's amazing how all these early greats all knew each other back in Kansas City - Iwerks and Disney were partners, as were they with Harman and Ising. The organ player at the local theatre was Carl Stalling. Anyway I wanted to try this mashup, owing to the fact that early animation, by virtue of it sheer amazingness, had a lot of micro zen moments, where a character was merely bouncing up and down in place for instance, while music played. A cartoon like Fiddlesticks then lends itself to this type of project because of various animation "slugs" that can be cobbled together.

Plus, the song is awesome.

IMG underscore NINE ONE ZERO FOUR
I was working on a post and noted that the file naming protocols from different camera manufacturers were pretty fixed. I consider it a hassle sometimes, and because I don't feel like doing it - I assumed others must be the same way. So I Googled it.

The slide show at in the link at the pic below will take you to people, places and things I've never met, been to or touched.

Try it - it's strange how diverse the images can be....

Best..........Spam............Ever

From:Lady Peggy Morrison.
4 Old Church Street, Chelsea, SW3, England.

Here writes Lady Peggy Morrison, suffering from cancerous ailment. I am
married to Sir Richard Morrison an Englishman who is dead. My husband was
into private practice all his life before his death. Our life together as
man and wife lasted for three decades without child. My husband died after
a protracted illness. My husband and I made a vow to uplift the
down-trodden and the less-privileged individuals as he had passion for
persons who can not help themselves due to physical disability or
financial predicament.

I can adduce this to the fact that he needed a Child from this
relationship, which never came. When my late husband was alive he
deposited the sum of Twenty Million Pounds (20,000,000.00 Million Great
Britain Pounds Sterling)which were derived from his vast estates and
investment in capital market with his bank here in UK. Presently, this
money is still with the Bank. Recently, my Doctor told me that I have
limited days to live due to the cancerous problems I am suffering
from.Though what bothers me most is the stroke that I have in addition to
the cancer. With this hard reality that has befallen my family, and me I
have decided to donate this fund to you and want you to use this gift
which comes from my husbands effort to fund the upkeep of widows,
widowers, orphans, destitute, the down-trodden, physically challenged
children, barren-women and persons who prove to be genuinely handicapped
financially.

I took this decision because I do not have any child that will inherit
this money and my husband relatives are bourgeois and very wealthy persons
and I do not want my husband hard earned money to be misused or invested
into ill perceived ventures. I do not want this money to be misused hence
the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death hence I
know where I am going. I do not need any telephone communication in this
regard due to my deteriorating health and because of the presence of my
husband relatives around me. I do not want them to know about this
development.

As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the bank
in UK. I will also issue you a Letter of Authority that will empower you
as the original beneficiary of this fund. My happiness is that I lived a
life worthy of emulation. Please assure me that you will act just as I
have stated herein. Hope to hear from you soon.

You can contact me through my personal email address

Rashomon
I was looking at a site where somebody had posted a link to this as a download, and it made me wonder if it was public domain. Looking at another site today, I discovered it was.

Google Video has looooooong videos, and sure enough, someone already posted the entire film in its entirety.

The venerable Archive.org has it in a downloadable version, for those of you who wish to migrate it somewhere else.

Wonderfully enough, they also have the story (in Japanese) by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. A chap has translated it into English here.

The remake is also great...

The Outrage

With Paul Newman as a Mexican Mifune
Shatner.... as... a.... minister
Edward G. Robinson as a swindler
Laurence Harvey (Domino's Dad!) as the objectively conflicted husband

NOT ON DVD - why?!?!

Beautiful World - Beautiful World - Beautiful World
THE THEORY: I own stuff. The only way (ordinarily) you'd get to see it would be to get to know me, get to my house, be close enough to me to actually rummage through my stuff, and then hope the trip wasn't a waste after seeing it, or listening to it, or watching it.

But hey, web2.0, baby. I've got stuff that's rotting or damaged and yet I can give you the content. I've got stuff that's worthless but interesting and I can give you the content. Let's share some content.

That's The Theory.

These images are from Lands and Peoples - Volume III - The Near and the Middle East. The printing date is 1961, but first printing was 1938, and that's when I suspect the following images originate from.

They're very painterly - some are damn pre-raphaelite-ish. The originals are almost devoid of black as part of the four-color printing process - they're pastel - and beautiful as originals - but pretty much untranslateable without shipping it out to a company like Northern Micrographics (I guess that's where the GlyphJockey motto of "everything is for sale" comes into play - hah?)

Regardless they are sumptuous middle way images, of exotic cultures, and I'm going to do entries about this stuff until I've run through all the volumes I have.

(Obviously pics are links. I've also quit doing "target= "_blank"", which makes stuff open in a new window. Get Firefox already, and open stuff in new tabs by clicking on your wheel or your middle button.)

MY AMAZON STORE - A deeply rewarding experience - perusing materials and goods I recommend

I've Taken 'em off. I've made about $5.00 in 60 days. There's enough traffic to support it theoretically (based on say, direct mail response rates) but either the payout structure is flawed or people don't behave the same way online. Guess what, I don't care!

But since my Hosting Provider, Performancing, Google and others choose to only use me as a "pole in the water" so to speak, I'm cutting them off.

I AM keeping the Amazon store up though. I dig doing it, and it allows me to encourage supporting the derivative content you might see here, while allowing me to be sarcastic, acerbic, pithy and/or humorous. Plus anything I buy there pays me.

I even really don't care if you buy anything - really.

Having said that, if you're a bigshot and you want to pay me to advertise - get in touch bunky.
